2025 in review; 365 films in a year

As seen on calendars, we have gone into a new year–2026–and something that has always been a trend, is resolutions. Last year I set a goal to watch a film for every day of the year (not a film every day), and I reached that goal. I had watched old films, new films, films I had never seen before, films I had already seen a dozen times, etc. Sometimes I get asked; “where do you find so many films?”. Well, truly the answer is that I jump from film to film because of the actors, once you find a character you like in a movie – check out the actor and their other works! I’ve found some of my favourite films and shows that way. If you’re trying to get into movies, don’t overthink it, don’t try to become some pretentious film critic, it’s not fun that way – Instead, start looking for popular films, ask people for recommendations, watch a film you see bits from online.

While occasionally, I watched a movie that was made in the past 5 years, I most watched films that ranged from 1985-2009. I feel like the cameras and techniques that are used now are so cheap, even a random Hungarian from 2003 with a low budget is much better compared to a 58 million dollar film from 2023.

I suppose I should include some of my favorites below (I’m not going to rank all 365 films because that would be absurd and I repeated several of them).

Honestly, I really enjoyed all of these films quite a lot, and I would highly recommend them, especially the last 2.
